Intrinsic
Softly the rain fell
Down through the trees
And pattering on the leaves.
Earth was silent,
Save for the drops
That traced the roof tops.
I from my window peered
And anxiously waited
For an entrance belated.
I waited through the rain,
Through day and night,
For blue skies' light.
And still by the window
I waited his return
With an intrinsic burn.
And still he hadn't come,
But I by the window peered
I, by the window immured.
So here I must stay
And anxiously await
An entrance belated.
So softly the rain falls.
Blue eyes bleared.
Blue skies besmeared.
