Soap Making

Description

So here are some of my new soap recipes, labelled and packaged. I did three batches this time. All of my soaps contain wildflower honey and hemp seed.

The first being aloe, chamomile and plantain for soothing burns, sores and aches and promoting quick healing. Plantain works wonders for healing open wounds and is actually the active ingredient in Metamucil. It is known as Waybread in the Anglo Saxon Nine Herbs Charm. Aloe is known to soothe wounds when applied topically as well as ward against bacteria and infection. Honey is added to moisturise the skin and as added protection against germs.
The second is St. John’s Wort, meadowsweet and rosepetals. I had collected a small amount of meadowsweet last summer and had used it as herbal bath preparation but I had yet to use it in a soap. St. John’s Wort when applied topically is good for abrasions and muscle pain. It is mildly sedative. Meadowsweet has been used as a flavouring in mead by the Anglo Saxons but it has various medical plusses, including being a painkiller and being the derivative for Aspirin. Rose petal was added to the recipe for an aromatherapeutic effect… it smells lovely.
“Walk in the Woods” soap blend is my last blend. A mix of cinnamon, basil and balsam fir for an earthy, woody scent. I used some essential oil of fir tree to add to the scent. Research for the medical effectivity of cinnamon is on-going. When heated it produces a savoury, earthy scent with a woody undertone.
